In 1999, I bought one of the first digital cameras (a whopping 1 megapixel) so I could take pictures of products for my import business catalog. I really struggled to create images that looked anything like you would see in a professional catalog or magazine, and I became extremely frustrated. I can't stand sucking at something that I really want to be good at, which lit an inferno under me to learn how to create images I could be proud of ... and that fire hasn't stopped since.
20 years have gone by and I have photographed just about every major genre of photography. During those years, I not only gained the technical skills necessary to be a professional photographer, but I came to understand what subjects stirred my creativity. I still enjoy many different subjects, but I am passionate about a select few ...
Portraits for Individuals and Couples, Dance and Theater, and Landscapes.
These subjects bring out the best in me ... and isn't that what everyone wants? When you have a passion for something, it shows in your work because it stirs something inside of you that causes the rest of the world to fade from focus.
I love capturing the subtle expressions of a human being who doesn't know how beautiful they are until they see themselves through an artist's lens, who has somehow captured a glimpse into their soul.
I love capturing a dancer's strength and elegance as their countless hours of dedication unfold on the stage in a display of perfection.
I love capturing the raw emotion of the actor who is so immersed in their character that they bring chills to every patron in the theater, including those in the balcony.
And then there are landscapes ... I could write pages ... but suffice it to say it is all about "me time" out in nature where fresh air abounds, animals scurry about, and I get to take in the amazing world around me. There is no place I'd rather be, and I love bringing a part of it home with me.
If your images are important to you, find someone who is a great photographer in that area and passionate about what they capture, and you'll never regret it. If I am that photographer for you, contact me to secure a date on my calendar, or to simply ask questions. I look forward to creating something special just for you.
